During my first week, I taught 14 formal lesson plans and assisted with all other lessons.
I focused on building trust and relationships with all of my students and I had so much fun establishing myself in the class!Β  I also learned so much about being a teacher.

Some highlights of my first week:
I taught an art lesson where the class created a Remembrance Day wreath. Emily Payne’s class also did the same, and then both classes exchanged wreaths in a nice moment of collaboration!

te a letter to highschool students, asking any question they wanted. I gave the letters to my friend Cedar Sherman, who is doing her practicum at PGSS, and the highschool students will reply! We thought this would be a great way for students to feel connected during these difficult times and really help them develop their writing and question asking skills!

 

– On Tuesday and Thursday, my coaching teacher had parent conferences. I stayed late both nights to listen in on them. I was interested to learn how conversations with parents go. My coaching teacher was so great about answering all of my questions.Β  I asked a lot of questions about dealing with parents and the correct way to discuss issues. There was a lot of discussion and learning with my coaching teacher during the calls. She would test me and ask what I would say to certain parents based on their child’s behaviour.
On Thursday, I had my first full day as a teacher! At the bell I went to the door, welcomed the class, and let them inside. I told the students

 

I was in charge for the day andΒ  that Ms. Bull was invisible, so all questions should be asked of me. It was a great day from start to finish!
